As the month opens, you will be thinking about your private life. The new moon that occurred last month, November 29, in Sagittarius 8 degrees, lit your fifth house of love and romance, and also rules leisure time, pregnancy, your care for children, and involvement in creative projects. One of these areas is likely to be on your mind. That new moon, like all new moons, set up a new trend that continues for a year until the next new moon comes by to refresh the previous one. The actions you take in the coming ten days will set the pace for this part of your life.

It appears you have a serious decision to make concerning a love relationship, or a decision regarding one of the areas listed (creative project, pregnancy, or a child you want to help now.) Saturn is present, along with the Sun, new moon, and Mercury, so you are thinking long term. You have hosted Saturn in this part of your chart since December 23, 2014, for two years, and you have one more year to go before Saturn will move on to Capricorn.

Saturn often brings an enforced separation through circumstance that is no fault of your own. It may be that you or your sweetheart has to travel a great deal for work. Or, you or your partner may be getting an advanced degree in a university far from your base. Or, it may be your partner is not divorced yet, or is free, but is still pining for love that was lost in the past and is not ready for a new relationship. Alternatively, the person you love might be going through a difficult patch, and it’s up to you to help. Things like this happen when Saturn tours the fifth house.

This situation will clear up at the very end of 2017, in days prior to 2018, but you do have to deal with it now. There are other possible meditations instead – you may be not sure if you should have a baby now, or if you do want a child, you may have had problems with conception. If this is the problem, you would be wise to see a fertility specialist immediately – don’t let time go by. Another way Saturn can influence your life is if you are involved in a creative project that is taking far more time and money than you ever imagined it would. Still, it can be a specular project, and it may simply need more tending.

If your birthday falls on July 30 plus or minus four days, you will feel the effects of this new moon more than most. The same is true if you have Leo rising, the natal moon in Leo, or a natal planet in Leo, Aries, Sagittarius, Gemini, Libra, or Aquarius at 8 degrees, plus or minus five degrees.

Your life is being strongly influenced by other people, because all the planets, except Jupiter, are on the Western side of your chart. Also Mars is in your marriage / commitment / partnership sector, another indication that you are thinking “we” rather than “me.” Venus will move into your commitment sector too on December 7 to stay until January 18, 2017, and that is just in time for holiday fun. Some Leos will want to get engaged for the holidays but you may want to wait until Valentine’s Day. Here is why.

Mercury will be retrograde from December 19 to January 8, but you will feel the approaching delays and hiccups that Mercury in weakened state always brings. This time you will start to see things slow down as early as December 5. Mercury does not suddenly become strong after lounging in retrograde. Mercury will take until January 27 to be strong. It will be important to buy any expensive car, computer, appliance, or other electronic gadget in the first week of December, well in advance of the retrograde. If you can’t do that, wait until late January. If you are shopping for gifts, you may have to rely on gift certificates in your relative or friend’s favorite electronic stores.

Still, as long as you are vigilant about keeping track of details and possessions, and are careful not to sign any contracts during Mercury retrograde (the deal will disappoint you if you do), you can sail through this month quite happily. You CAN travel too. There are SO many great aspects that will shower you with happiness. Mercury retrograde can snarl communication, so don’t make any judgments until you are sure that you have understood the message accurately. As my mother used to say, When in doubt do nothing – good advice.

Now let’s look at the dazzling days December holds for you. Despite the Mercury retrograde, I feel you will enjoy these days.

First, last month I wrote about December 1 to alert you to a truly great day, when Jupiter and active Mars will work together linking partnership and travel or writing / speaking / editing communication projects. This day’s glow will extend a day or two after it appears on December 1 too.

Net watch for December 6 when Mars and Uranus will work together to create excitement with long distance, foreign travel, or a relationship with a person abroad who you may be working with. It alternatively might be someone who is part of your family. On December 6, news should be exciting and positive. Also covered are the following areas for gain: legal matters (not only regarding a court case, but also trademark and patent applications); immigration matters, visa, passport, and green card; all actions having to do with earning a degree from a university or college; or media projects in publishing, broadcasting, and Internet. See if you can work on any of these areas on December 6.

Travel will be glorious and luxurious on December 9, one of your best days of the month. You are ruled by the Sun, so aspects like this one, that involves a beautiful trine by Jupiter to the Sun, will always have your name on it. (A trine happens when two heavenly bodies are 120 degrees apart, the side of a triangle – it is unparalleled harmony. Use this day for important meeting or presentations, to send in applications or manuscripts, or for any other matter where a lot is riding on a successful outcome.

The weekend of December 10-11 might be a bit difficult. Once a year, Saturn will conjunct the Sun. You are ruled by the Sun, so having taskmaster Saturn hovering is not fun. You may feel tired or a little depressed about a romantic relationship. Saturn is in your fifth house of love, which is a bit of an astrological oxymoron. Saturn is about patience, work, and duty first, but the fifth house is supposed to be about romance, vacations, and fun. Instead, you or your sweetheart may need to be out of town or work long hours just when the two of you have been invited to holiday parties. Or one of you will break up with the other. (Let’s hope this latter possibility is not the way things work out.)

If you have friends or relatives who are alone, reach out to those around you who could use a good meal, a surprise gift, or even just a warm phone call to inquire how things are going. The holidays make some people sad, and this would be the weekend when your kindness, good cheer, and generosity would have the biggest influence. If you are the one who feels a bit sad (hope not), you may find that reaching out to others to make their lives better will have a remarkably rejuvenating effect on you.

Another important day – this time a happy one – will be December 12, because again, the Sun is involved, and again in a highly cordial way with Uranus. On this day, you will be a virtual idea factory, so be sure to write down all those gems as they come up. Although you might have had a tough weekend, things will brighten a bit due to this lovely aspect. Travel and relationships with people abroad will go supremely well.

Now we get to this full moon of December 13. This one is not going to be sweet, but since this full moon will fall in air-sign Gemini 22 degrees, you can find a way to make it work for you. It will have some powerful support too, from lucky Jupiter and unpredictable Uranus. The problem is not with Jupiter and Uranus but with Saturn, a planet that will make you be very realistic and objective about a social situation involving a friend, or about one that centers on a romantic tie (or both). It appears you may be going to a party within four days of this date, but there will be concern about that friend or a lover. If neither of these possibilities seems to hit the mark in your life, you might be thinking about a creative project, the welfare of a child, or what to do about a pregnancy.

This full moon is in general harmony with your Sun, and because Gemini’s air element will make your fire sign element burn more brightly, you can come to a decision about how to either help or leave the person involved.

Keep your health strong at this time…

Saturn will precisely oppose that moon and conjunct the Sun on December 13 (an echo of what happened on the new moon November 29), so it appears possible that there are many people around you who are suffering. Either your friend or sweetheart will be going through a tough patch, or you will be upset with this person for some reason. Keep your health strong at this time, for a meeting of Saturn to the Sun can be very draining. It is a meeting of fire (the Sun) and ice (Saturn).

If your birthday falls on August 15 plus or minus four days, you will find a way to benefit from the full moon of December 13, even if you find events to be initially difficult. The same is true if you have Leo rising, the natal moon in Leo, or a natal planet in Leo, Aries, Sagittarius, Gemini, Libra, or Aquarius at 22 degrees, plus or minus five degrees.

Mars will move into your financial sector on December 19, so while friends are racing around the stores (not a good time to do that, as Mercury will be retrograde), you may be gathering receipts or getting ready to close your family or company 2016 ledgers so you can send the results to your accountant. You will be involved with this task all through January too. Good for you – get it done so you can be free when better aspects reign at the end of January and February.

As you get closer to the last week, the perfume of newly minted sweet aspects will remain as vivid as ever.

Some of the most delicious aspects will occur on December 24, 25, and 26. This is remarkable, because some years we have seen just the opposite. Let’s rejoice in this wonderful confluence of events, made even more so because Christmas and Hanukkah will fall on the same day, December 25.

Let’s first look at Christmas Eve, December 24. Whether you celebrate this holiday or not, this will be an outstanding, rare day. On this day, Saturn and Uranus will be in supreme harmony. The job of Uranus is to sweep out all that is out of date and no longer of relevance to your life, and he always works suddenly, without any warning. Saturn, on the other hand, works in an opposite way. He stabilizes all he touches and helps to build a structure. These planets move very slowly, so you will feel their friendly influence all month – and much beyond. This is only the first of three such meetings of these two planets. The next two will come May 18 and November 11, 2017. After that, these two planets will not meet like this again until 2047.

Saturn in Sagittarius is currently in your fifth house romantic sector, and Uranus is in your intellectual, broadening ninth house of international travel and projects; import-export of ideas, goods or services; academic pursuits, legal cases, and initiations; and anything having to do with the media whether in broadcasting or publishing. Uranus brings sudden surprise news and change, and Saturn brings stability. This is great news, for your changes will be wise ones. You may be challenged at times this month, but I have no doubt you will come up with the right answer for you. These two planets will be a big feature of 2017. Whether or not you celebrate the holidays, you will love these aspects.

On December 25, Venus will meet in friendly manner with giver-of-gifts-and-luck Jupiter, with surprise-a-minute Uranus, and with Saturn, all in friendly manner! Wow, four planets, each exchanging magnificent gifts with the other. Venus will be in your established partnership sector, so these lovely vibrations seem to stem from your significant other. You may be traveling near month’s end (very likely, whether short distances or long ones), and being at plenty of gatherings for fun and friendship. You may soon create a new artistic expression or redo something in your life in the coming year that will turn out so well!

Venus is also attached to your career house, so news about your career that arrives very close to the holiday is about to make you very happy.

On December 26, your ruler the Sun is again being named here and will receive a golden beam from Mars, a very energizing aspect. This is Kwanzaa, another holiday celebrated by many. I am so happy to have so much good news.

On December 27, Uranus, the planet ruling your partnership / marriage seventh house will go direct after having been retrograde since July 29 this year. This will help you make plans with your significant other, and you may discuss an engagement or set the date for marriage. I suggest Valentine’s Day – much better than now. If you ARE married already, you might pick a new goal to work on in the New Year.

On December 29, we will have a new moon in Capricorn 8 degrees, conjunct Pluto (power and rejuvenation), and friendly to Mars (energy) and Neptune (vision). This new moon will bring in lots of assignments for you to do when you get back from the holiday, and you may want to hire new recruits, because business will be brisk.

This same new moon can help you stick to a fitness and health program, so take steps the minute the new moon arrives. Join a gym, take a new class, hire a trainer – you get the idea. You are the only sign ideally positioned to get your body to where you want it to be. This is a very vibrant new moon.

On New Year’s Eve, Mars will be conjunct Neptune. Be very careful not to drink and drive and not to text and drive with this aspect, as both planets will be in your eighth house, which rules among other things, surgery. Stay safe, and book a driver to get you safely home. Or give a party at home. The moon will be in Aquarius, so let your sweetheart do all the planning for the evening.
